Azienda Agricola Tiziana Ramella

The agricultural landscape is not a picture and does not come about by chance. It is the fruit of the interaction, sometimes centuries old, of man with nature. An example of this relationship between agricultural activity and the mountains are mountain pastures such as the Muanda, above the municipality of Sordevolo, which can be reached by ascending the panoramic Tracciolino road. The mountain pasture is entrusted to the Ramella family, who breed Pezzata Rossa di Oropa cows and produce cheese. Using only the milk from their own cows, the Ramella family prepare semi-skimmed toma cheese, first salt, whey ricotta and the Slow Food Presidium mountain pasture butter. The cows graze freely from April to November, when the grass in the mountain meadows is most abundant and rich. The milk absorbs all the aromas of the wild flora, which gives aroma and colour to the cheeses and butter. Ramella farm products are sold directly on the farm, in local markets or shops in the Elvo valley and at the sales outlet in Biella.
