An open hand welcomes those arriving in Biella, recalling the five valleys that identify a territory composed of an extraordinary variety of landscapes, from the morainic Serra d’Ivrea to the wild Valsessera.
Around the ‘city of wool’, rich in historic buildings and ideas factories, the scenic road commissioned by Ermenegildo Zegna connects the Strona, Cervo, Oropa and Elvo valleys at high altitude, whose waters have over time fed the environmental, cultural and productive heritage of the Biellese. To the south, the hills, vineyards and baragge extend towards the rice fields and plains.
The Rete Museale Biellese (Biellese Museum Network) and the Slow Food Travel Montagne Biellesi community reweave and interweave the territory’s material and immaterial heritage into a new fabric of relationships, oriented towards a sustainable tourism that accompanies visitors in their discovery of authentic landscapes, places, people and products.
Slow Food Travel Montagne Biellesi is a Slow Food project that focuses on food and local production, proposing travel experiences consistent with the philosophy of ‘good, clean and fair’. The producers, restaurants and guest houses that are part of it are intertwined with the cultural sites of the Biellese Museum Network, for the growth of a sustainable tourism that accompanies the visitor in the discovery of food, the people who produce it and the distinctive places of the Biellese landscapes.
Guided excursions, on foot and by bicycle, are planned, touching many of the participating cultural and productive realities.
